Frequently Asked Questions

About me

What do you do for work? You work at Helvia on AI/NLP tooling. You could add a sentence on what that actually involves day to day, since “AI engineer” covers a lot of ground.

Why did the blog start in Italian and switch to English? It started ~15 years ago in Italian, then moved to English in 2014 as I started to study in English. I wanted to have a place to practice writing in English and to enjoy a wider audience.

Where are you based? Somewhere, in the magical province of Latina, Italy.

What are your hobbies outside tech? I have the curse of having too many interests. But, mainly: writing/worldbuilding, tabletop RPGs, board games, math and music production.

About the blog’s content

What topics does this blog cover? This changes with time. This blog is just my home, and I do what I like to do. This place started with AI and machine learning, game design, and general programming. With time, my interest shifted and so the topics of this blog. For instance, now I am more into RPGs and writing than I was in 2016.

Why have you kept blogging for so long? Because I like it. It is very important to have our place on the Internet. Social Media are bad; private-owned Social Media are even worse. This blog is the only place on the web that it is really mine. So I will keep writing on it even if the rest of the world will keep grazing in a walled garden.

What is “The ChangeLog”? It started as a monthly update about this blog and about what I do. Now it is my monthly way to condense my opinions on everything I read/watched/listened to/played. I hope it may be an interesting place for people to discover new things.

You write both technical posts and personal essays. How do those relate? As I said before, I simply write about what I think in the moment. So, no: they do not relate. They are different parts of myself.

Do you write fiction as well as technical content? Yes. But my fiction is mostly in Italian so I don’t share it here a lot.

What kind of fiction do you write? Mostly Sci-Fi and Fantasy and Horrors.

Why do you explore so many different programming languages? It is mental illness, most probably. :D I just enjoy to explore new languages. Well, I enjoyed to do that. Nowadays I am happy with the ones I use the most.

Meta

How can I find something specific on the blog? In the new redesign I’ve finally implemented a search function! Look at the top bar!

Do you consider a side project successful even when you abandon it? Sure. Why not. You seen as much time building yourself than building the side project. Even if you abandon the side project, the time spent still built you.

‌Are you productive, or just good at documenting distractions? Yes.

Where else can I find you? GitHub, Bluesky, LinkedIn.

Can I reuse/quote your content? Sure. As I wrote before, I think information should be free: for humans and machine alike. Still, because I am human, if you want to credit me and link back to my block, my ego will appreciate it. ❤️
